2-Year Anniversary

A Note From Heather Thanks to you, we hit an important milestone...our 2-year anniversary! This is an amazing accomplishment when you consider the following:

  • 20% of new businesses fail during their first year based upon data before 2019, which does not take into account the pandemic.

  • 30% of small businesses closed during the pandemic. I’m sure if we were to look, that percentage is much higher for new small businesses.

Here are a few of my thoughts and feelings as I reflect on the past two years:

  • Profound gratitude. The bring-me-to-tears overwhelming type of gratitude for those who took a chance on me and gave me a chance to work with them. I would not be here as a business owner without you. Thank you. If you wonder if I’m talking to you, I am.

  • Humbled. I didn’t have a strong network in the small and mid-sized business community when I started. I realized this major gap when my first clients disappeared as the pandemic took hold, and I was faced with my worst-case business case scenario. The small and midsized business community is beyond generous. Maybe it is because many of you have been there. All I know is that the time, support, introductions, and referrals was beyond what I could have imagined….and continues to be. A new friend shared this saying, “I receive more blessings than I could ever create”. This is the truth. I am humbled by the generosity I’ve experienced and continuously strive to pay it forward. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  • Community. No person “makes it” on their own. The community I’ve experienced is the source of being able to celebrate a two-year anniversary. NAWBO-MN. Indee. WBWG. RSP. Team Women. EOS Community (& the similar but unfranchised EOS-like community!). Voyageur. I gained a few lifetime friends from each of these communities and a ton of respected peers. The Awesome People Leader community. The supporters of All In For Me. Personal friends and family who showed up in surprising ways. So much community.

  • Belief. There were some dark days where I doubted myself and whether my business could make it through. My husband and mom were unshakeable in their belief in me. On many days, that carried me through. On a few days, even that wasn’t enough. Ultimately, I realized I was the only person who could give myself the gift of believing in me and what I was creating. So, I did.

  • Pride. I’m proud of my work, primarily the impact I’ve been able to have with the people and businesses I’ve worked with. The quality of what I’ve created. I’m proud of myself for demonstrating a depth of grit and resiliency I didn’t know I had.

  • I’m forever changed. I am not the same business owner that launched two years ago, or even the same business owner from a year ago. I am forever changed by these past two years. What portion of that is the typical growth of a business owner versus what we’ve all experienced these past two years? I couldn’t say. All I know is that I’m forever changed in the most glorious way. What a gift.

Thank you. Yes, YOU. Whether you are clear on your role or not, you have played a role in this journey. Thanks for two unexpected, unconventional, roller-coaster-of-glorious-highs-and-challenging-lows, and unpredictable growth years. Can’t wait to see what the next two years will bring…..
